Driving is a complex and demanding task and professional drivers have a high level of responsibility every time they get behind the wheel. That’s why it’s so important for professional drivers to continue their education throughout their careers. Whether it’s learning new defensive driving techniques or brushing up on the latest industry regulations, CPD can help professional drivers do their job safely and provide the best possible service to their customers.

The argument for BKF further training

There are a number of compelling reasons why continuing education for professional drivers is so important. First and foremost, it helps ensure that drivers are up to date with best practices and industry regulations. This is particularly important in highly regulated industries such as transport, where a driver’s actions can have serious consequences.

In addition, further training measures can help drivers to improve their skills and make their work more efficient. This benefits not only the driver, but also his employer or his customers. After all, time is money, and a driver who is able to get from A to B in the shortest possible time without compromising safety is a valuable asset.

The obligation to undergo BKF further training

In order to improve the qualification of all drivers in the EU and thus also road safety, participation in a BKF further training course is obligatory: All drivers, insofar as they carry out carriage of goods and passengers by road on public roads with motor vehicles for which at least driving licence class C1 (vehicles for the carriage of goods over 3.5 tonnes maximum permissible mass) or D1 (vehicles for the carriage of passengers up to 16 passenger seats) is required, must complete and provide evidence of an initial qualification and every 5 years a 35-hour BKF further training course.
